If there is trouble at hte gront of the green, ie bunkers or water, take one more club to be in the middle of the green rather than trying to get the ball near the pin and falling short in the water or bunker. The same would apply if the trouble was at the back of the green, take one club less in order to not get in trouble. Next time you are out on the course, try thinking how to manage your shot to the greens and see how your scores come tumbling down. |

Look at the shape of shot you naturally hit. If you fade the ball, aim at the left side of the green and not the flag. Remember the fade will and softer and stop quicker. Whereas a draw shot will tend to land and then roll a lot more than a fade. Remember to aim at the right hand side in that case.
Also the shorter the club becomes the less you will be able to draw and fade the ball, although you will be able to stop the ball quicker. |
