TIPS FROM
KEN VENTURI:
CHIP SHOTS &
PITCH SHOTS

Back to Index

Chipping and pitching of the golf ball require one main ingredient.  Your hands must be in a firm position at impact.  Imagine your wrists are in a cast so that they cannot break down and flip at the ball during impact.  A good visual thought is not to allow the club head to pass your hands throughout the shot.  Also make sure you have a wide enough swing arc.  Try taking the club back low and extend the
club back to waist high so that the shaft is parallel to the ground.  You will find the more you control your chips and pitches with the movement in your shoulders verses your hands, the better you will become at both types of shots.
