Checker Balls

The Checker Ball helps you to get the putter-face squarely aligned and demands a pure strike to get it rolling true

The majority of the game-improvement devices I have tested for this article are geared towards developing the full swing, but let’s start with a couple of great products that can help you to improve your putting stroke and save shots straight away.
First up, Checker Balls. While the Odyssey 2-Ball putter might be all the rage on the tours at the minute, this innovative putting gadget – which has the appearance of two balls fused into one – provides a great way to check that your putter-face is square to your swing path through impact.
If it isn’t, the Checker Ball runs across the green like a supermarket trolley. Strike it squarely and it runs true. The red centre line helps you to get the putter-face square at the set-up, after that it’s down to practice. Ten or 15 minutes working with the Checker Ball before a game will do nothing but improve your striking and certainly up your success rate on short putts. And it can be used on the carpet indoors at home.
