In this twenties and thirties,
Michael Parkinson became the founder member and president
of the Anti-Golf Society, but by his mid-forties, he had been
persuaded to take up the game by his wife, Mary Parkinson,
a woman of great common sense, and the most dangerous 18 handicap
golfer in captivity.
Since his conversion Michael
Parkinson has worked hard at unraveling the mysteries of the
game by talking to and playing with such experts at Nick Faldo,
Gary Player, Laura Davies, Bernard Gallacher, David Leadbetter
and not forgetting Gary Linekar and Alistair Cooke.
In his book on golf he records
these experiences with sketches of his subjects that tell
us much about the world of golf itself - all recounted with
that infectious sense of humour and eye for the absurd.
On holiday or relaxing after
18 holes, this is a book that will hold the attention, make
you laugh, and, at a push, may even improve your game!
