On being
handed the book my first thought was ‘This looks interesting!’
a reaction which for a person who is not naturally attracted
to books was quite a surprise to me. On
opening the K.I.S.S Guide To Playing Golf I was not disappointed.
Each page
I came across was easy on the eye and the brain. One is not
swamped down by masses of text and I was glad to see there
are sufficient diagrams and illustrations to assist in the
understanding of each section.
I found
that I was able to pick up the book and use it like a reference
library. I particularly like the fact that each page has
what I would describe as a ‘post-it’, giving either a ‘Definition’ of
a particular part of the subject it was covering on that page,
every once in a while a piece of ‘Trivia’, or giving
‘Internet’ addresses should you want further golfing
information via a computer.
The coloured-coded
markings on the side of the pages are a quick and easy way
to refer to a particular section which corresponds with the
coloured-coded contents pages.
As a novice
I found the basic rules a very useful section, as so far my
friends and I have gone to the local golf course without having
clear information about the basic rules of the game.
Explanations
of various techniques are illustrated extremely well and by
reading these I can’t wait to get out onto the practice range
. The do’s and don’t tips are also very good.
Personally
I will be trying to get hold of a copy of KISS Guide To Playing
Golf for myself as I feel this book is a must for beginners.
It’s the type of book I would keep by my bedside to pick and
refer to whenever the need takes me.
I give
it a big thumbs up and would happily recommend it to anyone
who is looking for reading material that will give them the
confidence to try the game for the first time and the confidence
to stick with it!
