The '100%
pure Ti' label might have been the most fashionable label
of recent years but tomorrow's space-age drivers will comprise
ever more unusual concoctions from the Periodic Table of the
Elements. Make that today's drivers. Yonex' star player, Phil
Mickleson, is already testing the innovative Rekin Super II
driver from the company who first pioneered exotic head materials
in the mid-Eighties with graphite.
Their
latest flagship boasts a '15-5-3 forged face', with the figures
reflecting the percentage of molybdenum, zirconium and aluminium
which join titanium here to create a 50% greater hardness
than basic cast Ti.
