with their dominance in the weekly tour counts, market leaders
Titleist continue to strive for the perfect ball, and its
new Tour Prestige has already struck a chord among top pros
such as Justin Leonard, Tom Kite and Sam Torrance.
Using
the same durable elastomer cover as the impressive Professional,
the Prestige is claimed to generate more spin off the short
irons - but less off the driver - than its stablemate.
For the
technically-minded, the Titleist test spin rate statistics
are, for the 9-iron: 8,500 RPS (Revolutions-per-second) for
the Prestige versus 7,900 for the Professional; and, for the
driver: 3,600 v 3,900 RPS.
Titleist
admit that the new ball can't quite match the ultra-grip on
the greens of the Titleist Tour Balata - still favoured by
the purist 10% of players (including Tom Lehman) but it clealry
kicks it into touch as far as durability is concerned.
