THE
TOUR TALK ON TITLEIST TITANIUM
Since
their introduction on the golf market, Titleist Titanium drivers
have become the preferred choice of many of the world's top players.
Introduced
in 1997, the Titleist Titanium drivers landed two majors in their
first year on Tour. In 1998, they recorded over 40 victories on
the world's tours and this year are on target to win even more having
taken 9 victories on the PGA Tour alone and 26 victories worldwide
already this season. So its hardly surprising to discover that Titleist
Titanium is the preferred choice of the current World No 1, 2, and
3.
Titleist
Titanium drivers are available in two shapes - the 975D with a larger
deep face pear shape and the smaller round 976R. The classic head
shapes feature square face angles for enhanced address position
and increased shot options. World No 1 David Duval's own experience
with his driver reflect the design claims. After his recent victory
at the BellSouth Classic he commented, "I can hit any shot
I want with the Titleist Titanium 975D. That's why I love this driver."
The
drivers are designed to manage the strength and weight benefits
of titanium and to create shots which fly with a harder more penetrating
ball flight. World No 2 Tiger Woods, winner of the Tournament Players'
Championship of Europe in Heidleburg on Monday comments, "One
thing I love about the Titleist Titanium 975D is the fact that its
one of the best looking heads I've ever seen, very similar to persimmons
that I grew up with. But the important thing is accuracy off the
tee. I know that's key for me as far as I hit it. You've got to
keep it in the short grass and the 975D definitely does that for
me. Another great thing is you can manoeuvre the ball in the wind
- its very controllable."
World
No 3 - Davis Love III also prefers the deep faced traditional pear-shape
of the 975D. "I lover my Titleist Titanium 975D driver, first
because its great looking and its easy to hit. I have so much confidence,
every swing I make. I've never had so much fun driving the ball."
