TITLEIST
- A PERFECT 10
Steve
Elkington's victory in the Doral Ryder Open on Sunday playing the
Titleist Professional 100 ball took the world's number one ball
manufacturer to a perfect 10, with 10 Tour wins on the US circuit
in the 10 events played so far.
Elkington
tamed the infamous Blue Monster course with a final round of 64
on Sunday roaring to victory in the Doral Open for the second time
in three years.
The
Elk reduced the lengthy Doral course, one of the toughest test on
the US Tour, using the Titleist Titanium 976R driver.
Director
of Marketing, John Peal commented:
"Titleist
Titanium drivers are designed to deliver shots which fly with a
harder more penetrating ball flight. With over 40 victories in 1998
and 5 victories so far this season on the PGA Tour, more than any
other driver brand, we are confident that players using our clubs
will continue to succeed on world tours this year."
Starting
the final day 6 back, Elkington, who also puts in trust in Titleist
forged irons, opened with two birdies followed by a tremendous run
of six birdies from the 6th. His final tally of 10 birdies over
the long and fearsome course littered with water hazards, was one
of the most exciting this season, only surpassed by David Duval's
record-breaking feat of 59 in the Bob Hope Classic in January. Duval
also achieved his victory using all Titleist equipment, the Titanium
975D driver, DCI irons, Scotty Cameron putter and the Professional
90 ball.
