TITLEIST
STREAKS TO 5 FOR 5 START
ON 1999 US PGA TOUR
Returning
to Titleist Wound Ball Technology,
Payne Stewart Returns to Winner's Circle
Returning
to the advanced liquid-filled centre wound ball technology of Titleist,
Payne Stewart also returned to the winner's circle at last week's
AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Stewart's victory highlights
another momentous week on the 1999 PGA Tour for Titleist, marking
its fifth victory in as many events. Stewart's win follows victories
by Rocco Mediate (Phoenix Open), David Duval (Bob Hope), Jeff Sluman
(Sony Open) and Duval again (Mercedes Championships).
Stewart
earned the first eight victories of his career, including the 1991
US Open, trusting his game to Titleist liquid-filled centre wound
ball technology. After playing a competitor's golf ball for the
past five years, Stewart switched back to the superior performance
and quality of Titleist at the start of the 1999 season. In his
first three events playing the Titleist Professional, Stewart has
posted three top 20 finishes, including this week's win at Pebble
Beach - the 10th of his career.
Victories
on the PGA European, Senior PGA Tour, Nike and South African tours,
all with the Titleist Professional, increases the Titleist year-to-date
victory total to 18, compared to 1 for the nearest competitors.

Titleist and included three different Titleist golf ball models
- the Professional, Tour Prestige and Tour Balata.
Worldwide

the Malaysian Open on the PGA European Tour. Norquist earned a two
year exemption with the win. Scott Dunlap cruised to a 5-stroke
