ODYSSEY
GOLF'S DUAL FORCE PUTTERS SWEEP
TOP SIX SPOTS AT PORTUGUESE ALGARVE OPEN
Odyssey Golf,
a division of Callaway Golf Company, captured a clean sweep of the
top six spots at the Portuguese Algarve Open, last weekends' PGA
European Tour event. The winner of the event used the new Dual Force
330 mallett model to earn his first European PGA Tour victory. The
second place finisher used a Dual Force Rossie 2 Bronze, while the
three players tied for third used the Dual Force Rossie 1, Dual
Force Rossie 1 Long and Dual Force 550 models, respectively. The
sixth-place finisher used a Dual Force 440. This was the second
PGA European Tour victory of 1999 for Odyssey, following on from
a victory at the Qatar Masters in February. Odyssey posted three
wins on the tour in 1998.
The winner,
who triumphed on the first hole of a playoff, relied on his Odyssey
Dual Force 330 Mallet for steady putting down the stretch. The Englishman
made a clutch putt to force the playoff, then sank a short par putt
to end the playoff and earn 93,300 Euros.
Odyssey continue
to be the leading putter on the world's five major tours combined
in 1999. On the PGA European Tour, PGA Tour, Senior PGA Tour, LPGA
Tour and NIKE Tour combined, Odyssey leads all putter brands with
25.5 percent of all putters in play, according to the Darrell Survey.
