CALLAWAY'S
PROS DOMINATE THE WEEKENDS PGA,
SENIOR PGA AND LPGA TOURS
FOR WEEK ENDED 27 APRIL 1999
Winning
was the theme for the three Callaway Golf staff professionals this
past weekend as they swept to victory in the tournaments played
on the PGA Tour, Senior PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour. Staff Professionals
Jesper Parnevik, Bruce Fleisher and Rachel Hetherington combined
for the uncommon sweep of victories to highlight a huge weekend
for Callaway Golf. And all three winners had their golf bags nearly
full of Callaway Golf Clubs.
Parnevik,
34 led the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic from start to finish
to capture his second PGA Tour victory. With a total of 12 Callaway
clubs in his Callaway bag, Parnevik won by two strokes.
"The
way I was hitting my irons, I felt like I could make birdies from
just about any place", said Parnevik, who used a Callaway titanium
driver, Big Bertha, Steelhead 5-wood and 9-wood and Big Bertha X-12
Irons to win the $468,000 first-place check. "I really had
great distance control."
Rachel
Hetherington's second LPGA Tour victory also featured some remarkable
shotmaking. She birdied two of the final three holes and then birdied
the first play of hole to capture the Chick-Fil-A Charity Championship
at the Eagles' Landing Country Club Course at Stockbridge. Hetherington
carried 12 Callaway clubs and an Odyssey putter in her Callaway
bag.
"I
was really pleased with the way I was able to come back on the final
holes", said Hetherington, 27, who used a Callaway titanium
driver, Big Bertha Steelhead 3-wood, 5-wood, 7-wood and 9-wood,
Big Bertha X-12 Irons and an Odyssey TriForce 2 putter. "The
way I finished the tournament gives me a lot of confidence".
Fleisher's
dominance at the 1999 Senior PGA Tour continued in his third victory
of the year at the Home Depot Invitational at the TPC at Piper Flen.
He had 13 Callaway clubs in his bag: a Callaway titanium driver,
Big Bertha Steelhead 4-wood and Big Bertha X-12 irons.
Callaway
Golf are the number one brand in retail stores.
