Regal Golf set to become
a major player
Bradford, West Yorkshire
- A new company, which has acquired and merged two established UK-based
golf club and equipment manufacturers to create one of the biggest
golf brands in the UK, has its sights set on becoming a major world
player through aggressive expansion plans in Europe and the USA.
The Regal Golf Corporation
is the new name of the merged business of Gratex Golf and MGB Sports,
both of which have been acquired by Oxygen Group, a company owned
by the former chairman and former managing director of Green Flag
National Breakdown, the vehicle assistance group which became a
household name following its sponsorship of the England football
team.
Regal Golf is projecting
an income of over £11 million in the current financial year from
a portfolio of over 900 products including clubs, bags, trolleys,
clothing and accessories bearing the Regal Wild Thing and Tristar
marks.
Partners in Regal Golf
are Yuseph Hedar, its managing director, Ernest Smith who was one
of the founders of Green Flag and Phil Bailey, who was a Corporate
Partner at accountants, KPMG.
Regal Golf's head office
and showroom is in Bradford; a second faciliy is based in Wigan,
Lancashire. Regal's operation in the USA will trade under the name,
Green Golf Corporation.
