GOLF TREASURES:
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

I have a Ping putter that my father won in a golf tournament in the 60's. The description on the back of the blade is as follows: PING GOLF CLUBS BY KARSTEN BOX 1345 SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ OTHER PAT. PEND MADE IN USA. On the left weighted side it says: BALL- NAMIC On the right weighted side it says: PING BLD The grip is the original black Pro Only grip with a flat front. On the flat front it says "PRO ONLY" and has a graphic of a man putting. On the butt of the grip it says: Golf Pride Tradition Action Made In USA Is there any value to this club? Thanks for your help.

With the price of early guttie golf balls rising ever upwards at auction, it is inevitable that later one's (post 1935) should also rise in value. That is certainly the case with a number of your collection of Dunlop Warwick's. Ten years ago balls like these were almost worthless. Today, in mint wrapped condition, they can fetch £10 each, perhaps double if they are still in their original box. Catering for the growing market for small-size 1.62 British golf balls in the United States, one American collector recently purchased a packet of three Dunlop 65's from the same period for $65 on an Internet golf auction! But do not get too excited - there are still plenty around and a more realistic value would probably be around £3 each.
