Dale Concannon writes:

The term 'heel and toe' weighting is a relatively new one according to most modern day club designers. Your putter proves otherwise. Manufactured around 1910, the 'balance' putter was a highly innovative but short-lived British club. Pioneered by A Tooley & Sons of London, then George Forrester of Elie, Scotland, the idea was also taken up by a number of other golf companies who thought it was going to revolutionise the playing of golf. Sadly, like many other good ideas, it was ahead of its time in terms of club design and failed to take off. Today, a putter like this could expect to fetch between £80-£120 at auction depending on condition.
