TREASURES:
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
We
believe we have found a Gutta Percha Golf Ball in 16th centuruy
house. Has original paintwork on it & wording "THE ---I-------ENT"
Where can we get it valued? Could it be valuable, how we would
we go about it? Thanks!

Concannon writes:
With interest
in early golf balls at an all time high, prices have sky-rocketed
in price in recent years. A decade ago, a good mesh guttie
fetched about £50 at auction. Today, it could be anything
up to £500! However, condition is an all-important consideration
when talking about value and if the name cannot be read, this
will lessen its worth quite considerably. That said, it might
have rare pattern, or something else that sets it aside from
the normal guttie ball. The only way you can find out, it
to either send in a photograph to Golf Today or take it along
to one of the golfing memorabilia auctions in London in July.
