NO. 1 DRIVER AT THE BRITISH OPEN; TAKES THIRD-STRAIGHT MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVER
COUNT
Coming off victories at the Masters Tournament and the U.S. Open, TaylorMade Golf
today announced it has won its third-straight major championship driver count.
With 48 drivers at the British Open -- all among the company's 300 Series line
-- TaylorMade easily bested the competition, notching its greatest driver count
margin at any major in 2001. At this week's Open, Titleist was second with 39
drivers, Callaway third with 34 (Darrell Survey).
Among the golfers putting the 300 Series drivers in play this week are seven
former major championship winners, with 10 major championship victories
between them.
With its win at Royal Lytham,
the 300 Series driver had helped TaylorMade
take the No. 1 driver count position on the PGA Tour for 27 of the season's
first 28 weeks. The company has also been No. 1 on the driver count in
Europe 12 of the last 13 weeks and in Japan 10 of the last 11 weeks. In
addition, TaylorMade has posted three consecutive weekly driver count wins
on the Senior PGA and BUY.com Tours.
Along with its seven individual tournament victories on the European Tour,
TaylorMade's 300 Series driver has helped take home a total of 28
championships worldwide in 2001.
