TAYLORMADE
BECOMES 'NO. 1 DRIVER ON TOUR' WORLDWIDE
TaylorMade, the No. 1 driver on the PGA Tour for 16 of the
last 18 weeks (Darrell Survey), moved one step closer to global
tour domination with the announcement of a driver count sweep
on all three major professional men's golf tours worldwide.
With wins at the Greater Greensboro Classic PGA), the Portuguese
Open (European PGA) and The Crowns (Japanese PGA), TaylorMade
becomes the only manufacturer to produce such a sweep in 2001.
While the win at the Portuguese Open is TaylorMade's first
solo driver count
victory in Europe this year, the company has tied for the
top-played driver
twice previously (Alfred Dunhill Championship, Open de Espana).
The Crowns
marks TaylorMade's third overall driver count win in Japan
in 2001.
Other TaylorMade tour accomplishments this season:
- Swept all three U.S. major men's tours in driver count (tournaments
ending
March 12 at the PGA Tour's Honda Classic, the Senior PGA Tour's
SBC Senior
Classic and the BUY.COM Tour's BUY.COM Florida Classic);
- Had three individual player wins on the three major men's
tours worldwide
in the same week (tournaments ending April 15 at PGA Tour's
Worldcom
Classic, European PGA Tour's Moroccan Open and Japanese PGA
Tour's Tsuruya
Open), and;
- Was the No. 1 driver played at Masters Tournament, the first
time
TaylorMade had won a major championship driver count since
1995.
