Cleats Beat Metal Spikes At Augusta National

broke new ground at the Masters when for the first time, more
competitors wore Softspikes brand cleats than metal spikes.
In fact, more competitors wore Black Widow cleats alone than
wore metal spikes.
According
to official figures released by Darrell Surveys, a total of
42 golfers teed up at Augusta National wearing Softspikes
brand
cleats,
while only 40 competitors wore metal spikes.
The
breakdown of cleat users was also illuminating. With 42 players
wearing Softspikes brand cleats, it placed Softspikes Brand
in the enviable position of having more than 10 times as many
competitors wearing Softspikes brand as the next largest plastic
cleat brand, and 4 times as many competitors wearing the Softspikes
brand than all the other plastic cleats combined. Among the
competitive plastic cleats the totals were Softspikes 42,
Nike 4, Champ 4, adidas 1 and Etonic 1.
