Softspikes have doubled the value of the money-back performance guarantee for their revolutionary Black Widow cleat.

Softspikes spokesman Bill McGuinness said the company wanted to strengthen the year-old guarantee to stress the Black Widow's performance in wet winter weather.

"We want to highlight the 'wet weather' aspects of the guarantee so that the trade and golfing public will appreciate just how well the Black Widow cleat performs in wet conditions," he said.

Any golfer who buys Black Widow cleats and is not completely satisfied with their wet-weather performance will receive a full refund. In addition, Softspikes will donate the same amount, in the golfer's name, to the Golf Foundation.

"Wet weather and wet conditions are the very situations where the Black Widow demonstrates its incredible traction," said McGuinness. "Over 80 per cent of players on the leading American tours are wearing Black Widows, and the numbers here in Europe aren't far behind, at slightly over 60 per cent.
