Unveiled in Munich
Golf Europe
2001, held in Munich on 7-8 October this year will see the unveilings of the latest
innovations in golf balls and clubs.
The trend for
drivers seems to be towards club faces and heads with faces becoming thinner and
more springy whilst the club heads continue to grow and the materials used advances
towards titanium and harder alloys. The higher the COR (coefficient of restitution)
value of a club, the further the ball can be hit.
Golf balls
too now have new properties which enable them to go further, putt more softly
and stop more quickly. The trend seems to be shifting away from wound balls towards
a multi-layer structure, this year over 80% of pros were using such balls.
Visitors will
also be able to view the Solheim Cup trophy, won by the European team last year
at the PGA of Europe stand.
