Mizuno
MP33ıs win European Open!
Five sets of MP33ıs in top 10 finish.
Mizuno's new MP33 blade won its second European Tour event
of the season at the European Open.
The winner, along with players tied second and sixth, was
one of many to use Mizuno irons without payment.
With contracted players, Mark Mouland and Dean Robertson in
5th and 8th
respectively, Mizuno's MP33 irons were used by 5 of the top
10 finishers.
Mizuno won the iron-count at The K Club with a grand total
of 37 sets of irons in play - 24% of the entire field*. Mizuno
have been the most played iron on tour for the last 3 years
and are now well on the way to making it 4.
David Matthews, Mizuno Marketing Manager, said: ³The MP33
iron has made more impact on tour in a short space of time
than any other iron we've ever launched. We attribute their
popularity to Tiger Woods giving blades a modern image and
the fact that the MP33's are easier to use than the blades
we made 10 years ago.²
He added: ³Some of the players have tried them out of curiosity
and been shocked at how easy they are to use. The centre of
gravity is actually lower than on many cavity backed irons.
Due to the continued interest in these irons the Mizuno workshop
has been flat out. The hardest thing is finding stock to give
to the players.²
