HARTPURY TO HOLD ‘GET FIT FOR GOLF’ SEMINAR IN CONJUNCTION
WITH THE AUSTRALIAN PGA
On 2nd
and 3rd June, Hartpury College will be the venue
for the ‘Get Fit for Golf’ seminar. This two-day seminar is
being delivered by the International Golf Fitness Systems
of Australia, which includes representatives from the Australian
PGA and the Australian Institute of Sport.
The aim
of this practical seminar is to analyse case studies and research
conducted by the Australian PGA and will concentrate on golfing
injuries and the biomechanics of the golf swing. The main
aim of the event is to share knowledge between the Australian
way of developing golfing systems and the UK methods.
The event
is being co-ordinated by Doug Pringle, who is a Chartered
Physiotherapist and lecturer at Hartpury in Golf Conditioning
and Sports Injuries.
Other
seminar presenters are Ramsay McMaster, who is a Chartered
Physiotherapist and lectures at the Australian Institute of
Sport and is a member of the Australian PGA; Sandy Jamieson,
who was recently voted as top youth coach of Australia; and
Keith Williams, who is the National Coaching Director of the
English Golf Union.
Guests
at the seminar include a number of professional golfers, physiotherapists
and osteopaths.
Malcolm
Wharton, Principal at Hartpury College, commented ‘it is a
great privilege for Hartpury to be selected as the venue for
this event. In September 2001, we are launching a Golf Academy
with new driving range and golf course, and so it is good
for the College to be recognised for its commitment to the
golfing industry.’
