WILSON
INTRODUCES FIRST ‘SMART’ GOLF BALL
Wilson
has introduced a golf ball for the 2000 season that can react
to different types of shot and offer significant game improvement
for golfers of all abilities.
Called
the Wilson Smart-Core golf
ball, it features new technology that allows the ball to respond
to firmer shots off the tee by delivering extra distance,
or reacts to softer contact around the green by providing
exceptional feel.
“The
result is a golf ball that proves ‘smarter’ than any of its
leading rivals, because it generates greater distance for
golfers off the tee but still delivers a softer feel for their
short game,” said Nick Addecott, UK Brand Manager for Wilson
Golf.
The
key to the Smart-Core
golf balls is a new core composition which has been developed
in conjunction with tyre manufacturer Goodyear. It is produced
by using a special blend of urethane and polybutadiene in
the core, with titanium acting as the bonding agent, for maximum
initial velocity and a soft feel. It’s the first time that
urethane has been used in the core of a golf ball and means
Smart-Core golf
balls are 28% softer than any other premium two-piece distance
ball; and up to 12 yards longer than rival brands.
The
Smart-Core golf
ball is available in four game improvement models, including
Straight Distance
(RRP - £6.75 for a sleeve of three),
Spin Distance (RRP - £6.99),
Professional Distance (RRP - £8.25) and Women’s
Distance (RRP - £6.75).
