PROJECTS LAYS THE FOUNDATIONS FOR EXPANSION TO
MAKE GOLF TECHNOLOGY
MORE ACCESSIBLE
Golf Projects,
the specialist technology provider for golf instruction, is
to raise £1m to fund a major expansion of its high-tech products
and services. This move has far reaching implications for
golf clubs, professionals and amateurs across Europe.
A reverse
merger of computerised golf putting specialists Pickquick
Plc has put the company onto the OFEX stock market enabling
them to raise backing from the City.
Golf Projects
currently provides all aspects of game improvement from sales
of hi-tech teaching and analysis equipment to the operation
of prestigious golf academies. It has a client base
of household names such as St Andrews, Turnberry, La Manga,
David Leadbetter Golf Academies, Nicklaus Academies and Marriott
Hotels.
The merger
between the two companies combined with the additional capital
raised will allow Golf Projects to expand its operations.
This will allow golf clubs, and their associated club professionals,
across the country to profit by enhancing their teaching programmes.
This will in turn give more amateurs access to the best golf
technology on offer.
Plans
include the opening of further academies, including additional
David Leadbetter sites, as well as introducing the world's
first hand-held GPS based golf distance finding system into
Europe.
Golfers
are already using Golf Projects' technology to have their
swings analysed by an instructor of their choice over the
Internet, and this can now be introduced on a much wider scale.
It is Golf Projects' intention to allow more golfers to have
access to unprecedented levels of new services and products.
To aid
development of this initiative, Golf Projects has just appointed
Phil Lewin, former director of golf at East Sussex National,
as academies operations director.
Ben Porter,
managing director of Golf Projects, comments: 'The interest
being shown by the City shows an understanding by investors
not only of the potential of the golf leisure market in the
UK, but also of the benefits that state-of-the-art technology
can bring to the game. Instruction is a key part of
this development and alongside the academies, the technical
support and analysis we can offer brings benefits to golf
clubs, professionals and amateurs.'
