Sale at the Open
A
golfing memorabilia sale will be held by Bonhams at St Andrews
on July 21 - the second day of the Millennium Open.
Highlighting
the auction are two rare mid-19th century wooden longspoon
clubs, made by the McEwan family around 1840 and Willie
Dunn Snr in 1858, which could each fetch up to £8,000.
Included
in the sale is a featherie ball made by W & J Gourlay
around 1830 which has an estimated value of up to £600.
A
selection of pictures with a golfing theme will also be
available, notably a 19th century watercolour entitled “Golfing
on the Heath” which could be worth £1,200.
