Mizuno No 1 Irons for Open

Mizuno irons were the no.1 choice of players in this year's millennium Open at St Andrews.  The winning margin of two sets over closest rivals Titliest was determined by two unsponsored qualifying players who purchased their clubs.

David Matthews at Mizuno said: " We are delighted - to know that qualifying players prefer Mizuno to the extent they will pay for their own clubs is praise indeed. This really shows that big marketing budgets cannot buy everything."

Mizuno took 24 on the irons count, pushing Titleist into second place and Ping in to third.

The count at last week's Open follows hot on the heels of Mizuno's truimph in snatching the title of No. 1 Iron at the flagship European event, the Volvo PGA Championship when one in five players choose to play Mizuno.
