JJB
links with The Golfers Club
One
of the UK's largest sports retailers is promoting an exclusive
golf membership scheme in 150 stores nationwide.
JJB
Sports, which has 450 stores throughout the country, has
teamed up with The Golfers Club to offer equipment bargains
to customers.
JJB
golf director Martin Wild said: "Following the acquisition
of Sports Division in 1998, JJB introduced golf into its
product portfolio and commenced a refit programme in 150
of its high-street and out-of-town superstores. Each store
has fully qualified golf technicians on hand to offer advice
on a wide range of products from the world's leading golf
brands."
The
Golfers Club, which celebrates its third birthday this year,
is the largest membership scheme for amateur players in
the country. Golfers who join receive a package of benefits
including comprehensive insurance and savings on Callaway,
Ping, Taylor Made, adidas and Nike equipment at JJB Sports.
The
Golfers Club director Paul Wilson said: "JJB is the
most progressive sports retail chain in this country and
to be able to promote our golf benefits' scheme via their
stores is a huge boost to our plans to reach a membership
base of 40,000 by the end of the year.
"Joining
The Golfers Club is not dissimilar to joining the AA or
RAC. Central to the yearly membership is comprehensive golf
insurance which is the only sure way golfers can protect
themselves against the serious, and possibly costly, implications
of a wayward shot or the theft of their golf equipment."
Other
benefits include a 50 per cent green-fee saving at 720 courses,
free accommodation at 210 UK hotels, free hole-in-one cover,
discounts at David Leadbetter Golf Academies and Thomas
Cook Direct, De Vere golf break discounts, BUPA Care and
a free Tee Time booking service.
