REGULATOR INCORPORATES
SPACE AGE TECHNOLOGY
WIN
A PAIR OF THESE SHOES!
 |
Hi-Tec,
the official shoe for the PGA of Europe, is using
space age technology to help create a revolutionary
new golf shoe for the launch of Autumn/Winter 2000.
Called
the Hi-Tech Regulator (RRP £79.99), the shoe uses
Outlast® advanced technology, an exciting formula
originally developed for NASA astronauts to control
|
| the
temperature for space suits. Hi-Tec has now developed
this system in the Regulator to help actively control
the temperature of your foot. |
The
Outlast Temperature Regulation® system is integrated into
the insole of the shoe to ensure the foot maintains the
correct level of warmth at all times. This is done by incorporating
millions of microcapsules capable of absorbing, storing,
and slowly releasing body heat into the fibres and foam
of the insole.
The
Regulator absorbs excess body heat from the feet, charging
up the cooler Outlast® material and distributing the heat
within the footbed. When the body temperature becomes cooler
than the Outlast layer, heat cycles back to the feet to
maintain a thermal equilibrium. By continually transferring
heat in this way the Hi-Tec Regulator provides comfort and
warmth to golfers playing in any temperature conditions.
Duncan
Patmore, Hi-Tec General Manager said:
“We
are delighted to be able to introduce Outlast® technology
in the Hi-Tec Regulator shoe. We really feel it will provide
significant benefits for golfers and is a huge step forward
in golf shoe technology. By using the Outlast system we
aim to ensure that golfers feet are comfortable whatever
the weather.
The
innovative Hi-Tec Regulator features a Greenfield® Evolution
phylon outsole providing maximum shock absorption with minimum
weight. Swing dams and directional lugs assist traction
when walking up or downhill. The Greenfield® Fast Twist®
cleat system is built into the sole, allowing fast cleat
replacement.
The
Regulator is made from supple full grain leather which provides
durability, whilst a Tecproof® breathable membrane ensures
the shoe is fully waterproof.
The
Hi-Tec Regulator will be available at leading golf retailers
from 1st October 2000 with a £79.99 RRP. Sizes
6-12 (inc. ½). Colours: Black/Grey.

FACTS:
What
is the Outlast temperature regulation® system?
The
Outlast® system was originally developed for use by NASA
to regulate body temperature in astronaut’s suits. The cyclical
process known as Perpetual Comfort Management™, absorbs,
stores, and releases body heat in order to maintain a constant
temperature.
What
is the benefit of using Outlast® technology?
Hi-Tec
have incorporated Outlast® technology in the Regulator as
it allows the shoe to function successfully in wider range
o weather conditions. In the summer the Outlast® system
will reduce overheating, whist in the winter months will
provide the foot with warmth.
How
does the Outlast® Temperature Regulation differ from traditional
insulation products?
Traditional
insulation products trap warm air to maintain warmth. Outlast®
uses microthermal material integrated into fibres, fabrics
and foams. This material absorbs, stores and distributes
body heat.
How
does Outlast® Temperature Regulation work?
When
the golfer puts their foot into the Regulator excess body
heat is absorbed into the Outlast® material. When the golfer’s
body temperature becomes cooler than the Outlast® layer
the heat is moved back to maintain thermal equilibrium.
