HI-TEC EXTENDS GREEN FRIEND STORY

With soft spike shoes firmly established as a growing sector in the golf footwear market, Hi-Tec is launching a new addition to it’s successful Green Friend range.

Called The Warwick, the shoe comes as one of two versions – either a plastic cleat or a more traditional metal spike shoe. Both types use a patented Lite sole unit. - a variation of the popular Evolution sole unit currently found on the Green Friend Pro shoe. This features an EVA wedge with a rubber plate and uses a seven-cleat formation (two at the heel, five in the forefoot).

The cleats or spikes are combined with directional swing dams to stabilise the foot throughout the swing and a network of ridges and lugs to provide traction when walking up or down hill. This sole unit provides exceptional traction and light weight.

Warwick Green Friend

The Warwick Green Friend uses Hi-Tec’s own Green Friend cleats based on a Lite sole unit. The Green Friend cleats will gradually become standard across Hi-Tec’s entire Green Friend range. Designed not to clog up with earth and debris, the Green Friend cleat is also extra durable compared to other products on the market.

Warwick RD

To cater for the more traditional golfer the Warwick RD features a Lite sole unit with a Trisport Lite metal spike system. This gives the golfer traditional metal spikes, but still combined with a network of triangular ‘lugs’ and bilateral ridges as found on the Green Friend version. This provides increased flexibility at a reduced weight compared to traditional spiked shoes. Duncan Patmore, Golf Product manager from Hi-Tec comments:

“The Warwick range features two classic looking shoes, but the sole technology is quite radical. The New Green Friend Lite sole unit means we can offer the same technical performance as a shoe with metal spikes. However we can also cater for the traditional golfer who wishes to wear metal spikes.”

Both shoes have a waterproof permair leather upper and Hi-Tec waterproof membrane for extra protection against the elements. The metal spike Warwick RD comes in black leather. The Warwick Green Friend system broadens out into two tones of white and brown or black and brown. Both shoes retail at £49.99.
